Light off

'Light off' is Ghanaian English for 'power cut'. A frequent occurrence all the time I've been going, but worse than ever this year. Every day I was in Ghana there was light off at some time, lasting anything from a few minutes to several hours. The locals were all complaining about it, and not knowing when the next light off was going to happen.
For somebody like me who doesn't live in that climate all the time, losing fans was worse than losing light.
Though when I was in Togo and tucking into my banku and okra soup, our host said 'you've got an African stomach', and George said 'No, he's got an African body' because I was OK (ish) with the heat as well as the food.
