Head Gardener

Enjoyed a really interesting tour with Head Gardener Brian Cunningham at Scone Palace, in this blip Brian is explaining the Douglas Fir behind him is one of the trees growing from one of the seeds that botanist explorer David Douglas brought back from his travels in west coast of America, DD worked as a gardener at Scone late
18thc
Just over 2 hours around the Pinetum and walled garden, very interesting informative and humorous too!
I don’t often have the opportunity to explore the grounds so extensively when with visitors, it was a real treat for me!
Had a scone at Scone too after!

A very fine day indeed!

Brian is also part of the Beechgrove Garden team in BBC tv
