Father’s Day ....
In 1906 in West Virginia, a mining disaster left hundreds of families fatherless. 362 men died. And so a small church in the area arranged a service of remembrance. 

The service wasn’t repeated but Sonora Dodd wanted a way to celebrate fathers. She campaigned for an annual service of remembrance. Her own father, a war veteran, brought up Sonora and her 5 siblings after his wife passed away in childbirth. So began the annual remembrance and celebration of fathers, now celebrated worldwide.
