Eyemouth

A trip onto the coast today. This is sculpted by Jill Watson to represent the 78 widows and 182 children who lost husbands and fathers in a hurricane on 14th October 1881. It was Scotland’s worst fishing disaster. I had trouble doing it justice opting for just a small section.

The harbour still functions as a fishing port and it was interesting to see boats returning to a safe haven. Tales of smuggling surrounded the big house by the harbour in the extra. Having enjoyed the views we then had a wander along the coastal path.

A grand day out.
