Northern Flicker

I was surprised that this bird didn't dart away which is what usually happens when they even suspect someone's coming.  They're very hard to photograph because of that.  I think this one might be young because it never moved from the spot and seemed to be calling, maybe to mom or dad.  Since my bird identification skills are sadly lacking, I couldn't tell you if it's a red-shafted, or yellow-shafted, male or female.  That's why I think it might be too young to be anything-shafted yet.
