Rummage Treasure ?

Whilst looking for something completely different I came across this 30 year old gem - a Sega Game Gear outfit c.1991.  With hope in my heart I loaded it with batteries and a game cartridge.  The power light lit and music played but the screen remained resolutely blank - which is something of a disadvantage on a video games console.....
Google searches revealed there is quite a bit of interest in a fully working console and there are repairers/restorers available.
A decision will have to be made .... restore or abandon.......
