Hoverfly

This is a dusky-winged hoverfly. A newly identified one for me. I'm not actually sure I've ever noticed one before. It was hovering around my hibiscus, which is spending the summer outdoors, as it does. The hibiscus seems to be having a banner blooming year. Three blooms so far - and a whole lot of buds coming along. Usually it only blooms once or twice in a season, so I'm delighted by its enthusiasm this go round. See extra for the current blossom.
