The Old Forge

Work on the garden continued and by July it had really taken off in terms of growth. The marigolds and other annuals had created a blaze of colour at the top of the rockery. Wild poppies had been allowed to flourish and my exotic poppy, bought at a plant sale, had finally flowered. I was glad I had photographed it as its flower lasted for only one day before being blown away. A crocosmia 'Lucifer' came up of its own accord beside the russet apple, presumably a relic from the cottage's former owners. Keeping the bindweed at bay had become a full-time job.
