Andrew Watson Mural

Born in 1856 and died in 1921, Watson was the son of wealthy Scottish sugar planter Peter Miller Watson.
He is widely considered to be the first black person to ever play association football at international level.
In April 1880, at the age 23, he signed with Queen’s Park, which was then Britain’s largest football team, and he led them to several Scottish Cup wins.
Last Friday I posted a photo of a mural which included Andrew Watson (he's the player to the right of the score board in that picture). So today I set out to get a photo of the other mural of him I had seen in nearby Shawlands.
He has quite a story to tell.
