Snap, crackle, and pop

Not a photogenic day today.

We live in a small house that lacks storage space. Happily, we have a lean to on the back of the kitchen and we have put freestanding shelves in there. One day they are destined to go in an outbuilding, once we have it properly roofed and a door put in. For now they form a repository for everything that we don't want in the sitting room. They do become disorderly.

Today was earmarked for moving the shelves half a metre to the right, to make space for the drinks fridge that is arriving on Monday. We emptied the shelves this morning and sorted out what to keep and which to divest. After lunch we took a run to the bottle bank and thence to The Shed, where I wanted to buy some further skips to keep things in better order.

Then we put it all back together again and this is the result.

What we should have done while we were on with it was to finish the room off. Like much of the house when we moved in, it was unfinished. The plasterboard is up but not skimmed or painted or tiled. The stone flags are outside, waiting to be laid. Apart from the two that have been borrowed...

We decided that we can continue to live with it as it is for now. What's three more years? Bathroom first!

Next job today is to repack the bathroom cupboard that was delivered yesterday completely wrecked. Leroy Merlin won't replace it until they get the bad one back.
