Lonesome poppy

A bit of a rainy day today and a lot cooler. We can’t complain though, we’ve had 4 good days and evenings and even today it’s not rained for a few hours, it’s mid afternoon now.
We are planning on going home later as Darren as a few things he needs to do.
One of Darren’s blip friends as been in search of poppies to photograph, and when they found some they were in the location where we live. Darren does know of a location in York where in previous years it’s been full of poppies and as it’s near the MacArthur glen shopping outlet he decided to pay a visit to both, taking advantage of the colder wetter weather which means he can leave me in the car, at least while he was in the shops. Darren was in the shops about half an hour, he rarely stays in these places too long. We then went to the poppy location which was about a five minute walk from where he’d parked car. It was very disappointing, they have either been and mostly gone, or are very late this year. There were a few clues that they could be late, the poppies he could  get very close to did have lots of buds ready to open and he couldn’t see any dead ones which he thought he would have done if they’d been and gone.
So while he couldn’t photograph a field full of poppies, he could simplify things by just photographing one. Despite it being a bit breezy this as come out quite well.
I was glad I didn’t have to pose next to the poppy :-)
