A few crumbs from a biscuit tin were thrown out for the peacocks and before you could say Jack Robinson the feisty cockerel and his hens arrived in force. The peacock and cockerel did not like each other.
" before you can say Jack Robinson" can be traced back to the 18th century but was probably in use before that. Supposedly Jack Robinson was an English gentleman who was always changing his mind.
