Pelican preening

I spent some time watching this pelican preening on Seven Mile Beach. It was totally absorbed in the ritual, and let a number of photographers get close. I understand that this behaviour is important for most birds to maintain healthy feathers, especially water birds. Here is a YouTube video of Australian Pelicans preening.
