Red Squirrel

Today's the day ...................... for a welcome visitor

It's strange isn't it? - after all the gloom and doom of discovering this visitor to the garden the other day - the discovery of the one above today, filled us with joy.

Not quite sure where he/she came from (because there's no real coniferous woodland anywhere near) but he was after some of the peanuts in the bird feeder.  He was more than a little welcome to help himself but it proved to be a bit of a challenge - although he did his best to try and extract a few.  

I put some peanuts in a pot and left them out on the ground to make things easier.  But, the next time I looked, it was one of the young woodpeckers that had found them (see extra).   He looked as if he couldn't believe his luck to find easy-access food without having to work for it - although I think he was a bit suspicious of it all.

Note to self - ' Get a red squirrel peanut feeder' a.s.a.p. .....................!
