I Got A Good Ticking-Off

I have heard faint cheeping coming from the area by the Nissen hut for a while but haven't been able to locate the cheeper. This morning an adult robin had a good tick, tick, tick, tick, tick at me, as it has other mornings. This is the robin's alarm call.

Suddenly the babyish cheeping stopped and I heard ticking from deep in a bush. Eventually this juvenile robin showed itself, emboldened by its new grown-up vocabulary. Young robins don't develop red breasts until they have had their first moult. This helps to protect them from other robins, including their own parents, as the red plumage is a trigger for territorial aggression.
