Crawick Multiverse - Charles Jencks

The last day of our little jaunt away to Kirkcudbright.   Before setting off we visited the studio of local artist Stewart Morrison and had a wander around the monthly Farmers' Market.    We then headed to the Crawick Multiverse land art installation designed by Charles Jencks.   He used the materials found on this old open cast coal mine to create these distinctive and trademark landforms, each representing astronomical and cosmological features and theories.   This photo is taken standing on the 'Multiverse' and from left to right you can see the 'North-South Line, Andromeda and the Milky Way' with the 'Supercluster' in the foreground.  Jencks has created a wonderous place from this derelict site.

A quick early evening visit to the allotment on our return resulted in harvesting five punnets of strawberries!
