Chirk Aqueduct

"I am seeking for the bridge which leans from the visible to the invisible through reality."  Max Beckmann

A walk across boundaries, along the Chirk Aqueduct, which carries a 700 ft long ribbon of water, the Llangollen Canal, 70 ft above the river below; we began in Wales and crossed to England, and as we returned a train rumbled past on the adjacent viaduct, which would have superseded the canal as a means of transportation. Looking good after just over 220 years, it's another masterpiece of Telford engineering.
