Lichens On the Apple Tree

More detail full screen

After two days and nights of cold, dry winds the lichens have shrunk and they need a macro lens to capture their beauty. Here are just four of the lichens on the little apple tree. There are many more different ones.

Clockwise from top left  (I’m no expert so these might not be the proper names after all.)

     Beige- Lecanora carpinea
     Green-  Ramalina glaucescens
     Yellow-  Xanthoria parietina
     Red-  Haematomma babingtonii
