Juxtaposition of New and VERY OLD

A day in London visiting the Tower.  It's amazing that the White Tower is as good as it is being the first thing built by William the Conqueror in the 11th/12th centuries,  Some of the newer architectural wonders a bit further way contrasting strongly,  An extra of the Shard as viewed through one of the Medieval Tower's window frames.  It was very quiet visitor-wise, which was as we hoped - we went for our castle 'fix' ahead of the tourists returning when there would be thousands milling about.  It's a long time since I have been to the site but we hired the audio guides and had a thorough 'emersion'; the Crown Jewels are fabulous and the Ravens extremely raucous and noisy.

If you've been half thinking of a visit go now before any Covid restrictions are removed - you can see everything and it's not crowded!  I see the railways offer a 2 for 1 deal so it won't even be expensive.
