A Local 'Ink Link'

B and I walked the circular route from Sheringham Park to North Norfolk Railway Weybourne Station today.  This is my favourite and I think, most picturesque of their stations.  It is open again now but we are still not allowed on the platform unless we're travelling.  So we walked up to the road bridge for our photos.
There are two additional things to note about this photo.  Firstly, on the right the token is being passed across between the driver and the station master to allow the train to continue.
Secondly, there is an advertisement for Stephens' Inks on the station building on the right.  This company was owned by the family of Henry Stephens.  Henry also invented the WWII Anti-Aircraft Gunnery Training facility housed in 'The Dome' Museum at Langham.  This planetarium-like structure was crucial in the war effort.  Films of enemy aircraft were projected onto the ceiling of the dome so trainees could practice shooting down enemy planes without firing a single bullet. Probably the first example of ‘virtual reality’ that we know. This is the only restored training dome in the UK.  Well worth a visit.

It was splendid to be able to do this walk again and will be even better once we are able to sip a mug of tea whilst seated on the platform watching the world (and the trains) go by.

The engine is LNER 8572 (see extra).
