Ryde Pier

We were up early enough to finish packing and clean all the bits of food out of the kitchen: it’s a shame that we are unable to take it with us. We had a surprising amount of recycling that would not fit in the waste so left it in the hope the team would properly recycle it. We also had a collection of cooking sauces and oils that had been bought for the self-catering week but there were too many to carry back. So we left them in the hope that the next tenants would benefit from them. I fear that with COVID cleaning they will be thrown out: there’s a lot of hope in this paragraph.

The taxi arrived at 9:45 and we were at Ryde Pier within 15 minutes which meant we had a 45 minute wait for the ferry. There’s a small exhibition at the entrance to the catamaran terminal showcasing the delights of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. It’s got a great, short, promotional video but - by the time we boarded the boat - I think we could quote most of it.
