Newly Hatched Grebe Chicks ….

…. need feeding regularly and Mum can’t leave the nest as she is sitting on two more eggs. I watched this family for ages then I could hear multiple shots being taken in another section of the Villeneuve hide, a grass snake was sunning itself on a rock by the lake (extra). An hour later, by the Grand Canal, I saw the second extra, probably the male Red Kite of the couple I had seen copulating on April 1st. If you look closely you can see hundreds of midges around him.  A difficult choice of blip for a “rest day”, how lucky I was today.

Huge thanks for sending yesterday’s Swallowtail butterfly flying to the first Popular Page, honoured.
