A Meandering Life...

Luggage - 3 Generations Worth

In our living room we have these holders of memories. At the bottom is the chest we bought on one of our many trips to the States and found it easier to buy this than a new suitcase to bring back all the goodies we had collected.

The black box was my father-in-law's for when he went out to Nigeria in the late '50s to teach. It followed him around from post to post.

The old brown case belonged to his father, it is a gentleman's travel case with hallmarked vanity items like brushes, bottles and shaving implements in pockets inside. His initials 'ID' are embossed on the case. I have no idea how old it is but he was born in 1867 so I'm guessing late Victorian.

All three hold memories as an item and within.
