Santa Eulalia de Abamia

King Pelayo died in the 8th century and he and his wife Elisenda were first buried here, at Abamia. Later their remains were moved, I think first to Cangas de Onís and later to Oviedo.
The current church is substantially romanesque and dated to the 11th-13th centuries. It has been in decay and has been substantially rebuilt, but the rebuild has not found favour and the church is no longer in use.
The church has a commanding view, not unfortunately visible in the photo (in the extra) because of the trees; but it sits atop a hill with views over the valley towards Cangas de Onís.
