Optimism

We went down town to see the extent of the damage from the fire in the main street, Bong Bong Street, last Thursday. The streets are closed off and there are lots of barriers and all sorts of huge trucks. Very few people. Even without with fire there would be few visitors, with Greater Sydney in lockdown.

It’s ages since we walked the length of Bong Bong Street. As we expected, a lot of shops and businesses have closed. What I didn’t expect is the number of new businesses that have opened up. I do hope that spirit of optimism proves to be justified. They certainly didn’t need the fire.
