An Old Oak

As I returned from a doorstep visit of a friend today, I noticed an open gate into a public garden that I have never noticed before. I really must look up and around more (and I thought I did!!).

The focus of the garden is this old oak - an old record notes that this tree was 80 feet tall with a spread of 126 feet back in the mid 17th Century. WOW! It’s even got it’s own name - the Minchenden Oak and it’s 800 years old.

And as Elbows cricket club is The Old Minchendens and as ex-students of our local theological college are called Old Oaks, I think this tree needs extra special mention.
