Life after Burradoo, NSW

By MountGrace

This is for real

This sign outside a shop in our usually uneventful town, Bowral in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, hit the news last week. As if the fire in town on Thursday night wasn't enough.

Just in case you can't read the sign easily this is what it says:

To protect our customers and each other . . .
NB. 1.  If you have had ANY vaccine in the past 10-14 days
please DO NOT ENTER
2.  For hygiene reasons NO MASKS in store please. Thank you.

We found it hard to believe the reports so we drove past when we had to go into town and, sure enough, there it was. It leaves us speechless. What hope have we!

Some customers apparently reported the shop to the police who, according to newspaper reports, spent an hour and a half in discussion with the owners about their breach of NSW's public health orders. Unfortunately it ended up in the owners and the police in a violent episode and the owners were arrested. A video of the episode ended up on national television. They are apparently still refusing to don masks and have been charged.

Today the lockdown and restrictions in NSW have been extended for a week. The major issue is that it is clear a number of people are not complying with the orders and some are testing positive!  I am very sorry that Bowral is contributing to this madness.
