Indoor Blip: Lyra-8 Mod Delay

Twistier reflections in large
Extra: Flügel macro portrait (ghost story version)

This is the top end of my SoMa Lyra-8; same designer as my SoMa Pulsar-23 percussion synth, but this is an 8 voice "drone" synth... It has 8 antiquated-sounding triangle wave oscillators that are independently tuned (and sound rather like a haunted organ) and are played by conductive touch contacts, then a whole load of modulation circuits which twist and cross-react those basic tones.
The resulting sound then passes through this "Mod delay" (modulated delay) which can have its two delay lines twisted by either the complex LFO (low-frequency oscillator) or by the audio output of the delay ("SELF" modulation). The 8 voices can also be modulated by "Total FB", where the output of the entire synth (inc. delay) feeds back and modulates the initial tone generation circuits.
I have no other synth where an effect processor is so much a part of its sonic character, and I now have the Medusa running through this so that the Lyra's delay and drive circuits can weave in the Medusa's voice.

So, I took photos of the Lyra in the morning (while it played me?), then took the macro and flash out in the afternoon to try to get pictures of Kappa's developing flight feathers, but I'll try that again another time... Various macro/flash duckule pics on Flickr though.

Others here (or right from Global controls)
