Eyelash Viper

Durrell has a lovely variety of animals. Today we popped into have a spot of lunch and I can never prevent myself from entering the reptile house, even on a passing visit!

We were very fortunate to see this brightly coloured viper happily on display. Although not endangered a beautiful specimen that once was threatened. Often seen in zoo exhibits as proof of how captive breeding and habitat management can prevent species from
becoming endangered or even extinct.

Sadness was felt at Durrell due to the mourning of Wolfgang their male Spectacle Bear. He was put to sleep due to old age and serious deterioration of his health last week.

Keep up the good work!
