A Day In The Life

Wild Wednesday

A morning of errands followed by an afternoon of fixing and shoring up • Last night we had a heck of a thunderstorm that brought heavy rain and wind, but thankfully no hail. Because our property is hilly the rainwater trenched through flower beds and the vegetable garden washing soil and mulch into the yard. What a mess! The pepper plants and hollyhock were pushed over despite stakes but luckily none of them snapped in two • It was a lesson learned because Elsa, the tropical storm that made landfall in Florida, will hit Maine as a tropical storm on Friday. Knowing where our weak links are we added additional stakes where needed and moved our potted peppers to a different (hopefully safer) location • We hope our blip friends between FL and ME are prepared and safe • Enjoy the wild critters who stopped by this afternoon: woodchuck, gray squirrel and chipmunk.
