Staff Wanted

Notice outside the Torbay Hotel, Torquay. Staff wanted in the restaurant, and bars, as well as housekeeping. A familiar story in the South West. There is a blue plaque on this building to commemorate the fact that Ernest Shackleton had a farewell dinner here with family, officers, and crew of the schooner Nimrod before she sailed on her first expedition to the Antarctic, 6 August 1908. The hotel was opened in 1867.
