Roadmap Out Of Lockdown Step 3 - Day 54

A rainbow of hearts for the NHS - RUH, Bath

Yesterday in brief-ish:
- came home from walk to find dad on the floor outside, had been there for half an hour, had fallen and banged and cut his head and badly injured his arm
- ambulance took him to hospital, paramedics suspected concussion, possible TIA, said he needed scan and stitches
- three hours later dad called to come and pick up. Found him sitting on his own outside A&E, dazed and confused, had no recollection of what had happened. When I asked receptionist what treatment dad had received was told I’d have to wait for report to be sent to GP.
- back home dad still out of it. Spent an hour trying to get through to A&E to find out what treatment dad had received, failed every time (found out today that he’d had no scan and no stitches!).
- after being at home for an hour, dad had a blackout and collapsed, taking down mum as he fell, and badly injuring his other arm and head again. Had to get a neighbour to help get them both up off floor.
- second set of paramedics arrived, agreed dad should never have been discharged. Taken back to hospital and kept in overnight.
- sleepless night for me

Today in brief:
- phoned hospital at 8am, no news, waiting for consultant to do rounds.
- 1pm hospital called, dad to be collected at 2.30pm. Falls/blackouts due to previous stroke, meds adjusted.
- delay in leaving ward waiting on meds, eventually left 4pm.
- had my own GP appointment
- an evening of comfort food and a very early night!

Take care, stay safe and well, and please don’t fall over!

(Thank you for all your kind words yesterday. Very tired, will try and pop by with stars.)
