Truly Blippin' Marvelous

The nursery

A group of cow elk and their calves Have been camped out in the hay meadows near the river for quite a while now. I finally got the big lens out ( but sorry - no tripod). EDIT: Later, I had to run an errand for something Kathy desperately needed to complete the laundry and on the way to town saw the elk cooling off in a pool by the river; and on the return journey they were amassing by the fence ready to cross the road to better shelter . . .

After recent rains the river is running very cloudy with silt. The Apache-Sitgreaves NF reopened to the public on Thursday; stage II fire restrictions remain in force.

Cav did it!  Eddy Merckx's stage win record is equaled after standing for thirty seven years. Long day of racing and nasty falls due to gravel on the narrow roads. I got up too late and had too many other things going on to watch the live broadcast. Thank goodness for satellite DVR.

Do you see the interloper in the extra? Well, it is the horses pasture really but they share.
