Nothing silly happening here today

we are doing a little bit of gardening, starting out with removing a lot of eucalyptus tree leaves and then in other areas thousands of large pine needles. Years ago I actually bought those online for my little baskets, now I could sell these!!!! Want some? Under those eucalyptus trees nothing grows except those well established old succulents. I wanted to outsmart the trees and put an apple tree and citrus trees in big whisky barrels. They lasted for a few years and now: they are dead.
On the other hand the LA Times has an article about 'Your summer action plan, gardeners".
They don't mention these tasks but tell you to clean out those pots that have salt crusts on the surface and then use potting mix - not planting mix. I just bought 4 bags of 'planting mix', oh well, it was cheaper. I am not repotting anyway. 
Last night we went out with the neighbors and they told us that someone in our neighborhood, who had 2 vaccines is having the new Delta covid. So be aware, we were sitting inside of a restaurant, their choice, and I told them next time we will have to sit outside....it's not worth it!!!!!!!! We have to be more careful, we let our guard down a bit, no more masks ....
But maybe that was just good for business to have us back shopping and dining again. Tonight we will stay in for dinner, it will taste better anyway.
