Rust Chic

This was the table for our lunch in the sunshine at the Seaside Boarding House, Burton Bradstock.  It was a very decent lunch and the service was friendly and efficient, but I was intrigued at the rusty container for the table flowers.

It used to be called the Cliff Hotel, and my father-in-law, who was born and brought up not far away, in Beaminster, used to visit to see his old haunts and to challenge himself to a walk up Golden Cap.  The hotel would treat him very well, making him a treacle tart for dessert because they knew that he liked it.  The hotel had a darkroom for visiting photographers to use and it was generally a very friendly place.

We like the fact that it's called a boarding house rather than a hotel, that it has a decent menu (we think) and has friendly and accommodating staff.

And it has a gorgeous view . . .
