ALL about ME..for now

Skateboard
Well by popular request (one is sufficient) the skateboard I built over 40 years ago! I made the deck with a sandwich of fibreglass and wood, forming a concave curve to aid kick turns. Originally conceived as a flexible slalom deck, I switched it part way to make it more bowl ride friendly stiffening it with extra layers of laminate; a weighty measure. The yellow paint is as originally applied.

We spent one summer rider riding a private wooden half pipe in a cafe at the side of the A46 with "Island Life  by Grace Jones" on constant play from a ghetto blaster my friend still has. Heaven 17 were another boarder friendly band at the time.

In earlier years we took an hour bus ride to Hyson Green "skatepark"; a deprived red light district in Nottingham via an hour bus ride sandwiched by 20 minute slices of street riding. Helpfully my parents  knew nothing of the area!

Originally fitted with wide  "California Slalom" trucks, I later swapped with a buddy for narrower "Tracker Midtrack" trucks as shown. It's original SK5 wheels complete the set up; very quick and slidy (an advantage depending on what you were doing).

That's plenty enough history...

Church Sound System
Visited a very modern more evangelical style church with an elder council member today. A live band with lots of video screens, very different as expected to our orthodox CofE church. A friend of mine was one of two glam dressed blond backing singers. It was good to meet the guy I'd been speaking to re their sound system; a world away from our needs with a £7k mixing desk!

Not our style at all, but some useful experience which we thought would be good to incorporate at our church; in our dreams!!!
