High summer

Today I made (hopefully) my last survey visit to the Cambridge area - now I must get down to the lengthy process of putting together all my findings into a readable report.

I started in mid-April when the hedges and fields were still bare, watched the spring unfold with frothy Cow Parsley lining the hedgerows and now it's high summer, the crops filling the fields and beginning to show shades of gold.

This view shows that Cambridgeshire is not entirely flat. I was standing on the slope of a hill reaching the dizzy heights of 60 m, which afforded a wonderful view over the city of Cambridge, with the Gog Magog hills in the distance. In fact you can probably see right into Hertfordshire!
