Life In Wales

Snowdon

This morning we went for a walk to Llysfaen which is the next village to us as I’d seen that there’s a scarecrow festival - it was more like a hike though as it was all uphill! It was worth the climb though, the scarecrows are dotted all around the village and are brilliant! We didn’t get to see them all, so we might pop back tomorrow, but next time I’ll drive!

Then this afternoon we had tickets for the Snowdon Mountain Railway. The train currently only goes 3/4 of the way up the mountain to Clogwyn station and stops there for 30 minutes before making the return journey.

When we arrived at the station in Llanberis, the weather was ok - it was warm, a bit cloudy but some bits of blue sky. So we were hopeful of a bit of a view or maybe the mountain poking through the clouds. However, the higher we got, the thicker the clouds, and when we arrived we literally couldn’t see a thing! Our 30 minutes stop was more than enough - not only was it cloudy, but it was very cold too. Despite this, we enjoyed the experience and would like to go again next year when the train will go to the summit, and hopefully on a better day.
