Circular garden, Enmore Park

This photo shows one of several circular gardens in Enmore Park, near my place. Everything I post is near my place, on account of the lock down. The park has one main circular garden, in which once were planted beautiful roses, with paths radiating out from it. The circular pattern is repeated with plantings throughout the park, either garden beds or broken circles of hedges. I chose this garden for the dense fir tree in the centre, contrasting with the autumn leaves and bare winter trees nearby.

Enmore Park was the first public park to be established in the Marrickville area, following a petition from local residents. It is representative of many late Victorian era public parks in the Sydney region created through the Public Parks Movement of the 1880s. Its further development and maintenance may have been supported by unemployment relief works in the 1930s depression.

Thanks for hosting BobsBlips. Stay well all.
