Grebe Family …

… what’s left of it. I am fairly sure that this couple had three chicks and 3 more eggs the last time I went to the Villeneuve hides, only one left now. Today I couldn’t get there the normal way, the road was flooded, so I cut through a working gravel pit, a bit naughty. I wanted to see how high the lake was and I was sad to see that the many grebes were starting to display again. Their nests must have been flooded and their chicks and eggs drowned most probably. This torrential rain should stop tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks so much for all the gifts for yesterday’s dark view of the Trient Glacier.
