Life’s a beech

An Impenetrable thicket of young beech saplings in the shadow of the 60ft parent.
Amazing to think that the main tree may reach twice that height eventually.
As may some of these whippersnappers in 300 years +. .

Sobering thought compared to our relatively short time here.
