Kyrchje 2032m

We were up before the alarm at 6.30, I had a rather bad nights sleep. There was another tent, about 20m away from ours, and unbelievably they chatted the whole night long! Hard to believe, isn’t it? But I woke at 2am, and 4am and they were still chatting! After a good breakfast, we set off, with plant to climb to the lovely summit in yesterday’s blip. It was more overcast and spitting slightly with rain when we set off, but this was soon over.
The path led over a ridge summit, a mixture of easy path, snow field and Boulder hopping to the col, where the main ridge up kyrchje The Church, set off. We had a break before the final push, it looked very steep, and it was. One step at a time, we inched our way up one Boulder at a time, to the final 30m. This was a very tricky scramble, with a couple of exposed moves, ok going up, but more scary going down. We saw a herd of wild reindeer on a snow slope opposite, so exciting to see.
It was a long way back, and harder on the knees climbing back down the boulders. Back at the tent, we went straight to the bar at the mountain hostel, and sat out a heavy rain shower. After something to eat at the tent, we packed up an drove the rest of the exceptionally beautiful Sognefjellet road, down to Lom, then looked for another campsite in the Raums valley. Found one at a lake, so happy to have a swim, it was about 18 deg C, surprisingly warm for so far north.
10km, 950m ascent, 5 hrs 30mins
