Akay Ruins

Its Mr P's birthday . His activity of choice was a long walk but his idea of a long walk is not the same as mine. I dropped him off at Hartsop at 8:00am in the morning and he walked home , 25km across the hills.  Meanwhile I borrowed his car ( I'm still carless since no 2 son borrowed mine) and went off to see friend A  for lunch and to escort her on a gentle amble round her local woods- in the shade.  The Akay Estate is now owned by Sedbergh School, they bought the estate in 1938 to prevent houses being built on the now cricket pitch and let the old mansion house fall to ruin. There are intriguing finds to be had in the woods if you look hard enough .
