Gatekeeper on Cotton Lavender

To keep up my series of butterflies in the garden, today we have a  gatekeeper on the cotton lavender. I would have guessed a meadow brown but Draco instagrammed this butterfly the other day and I learned something new! I couldn't get a good look at the outspread wings to see if it is a male or a female. 
To continue the verbena theme there was also a cabbage white on there today (extras). 
The thermostat in the hall read 25.5c last night, that is the coolest room in the house! It's 30 degrees outside so I only venture into the garden 5 minutes at a time.
