Arrivederci Roma

I'm writing this on Monday morning as our flight got delayed and we got back quite late last night. After the glorious sunshine that helped dilute the disappointment of (yet another) Irish loss, we got up on Sunday to a grey and coldish Rome. Never a dull moment: the marathon right outside our door and, had we been thus inclined, a new Pope saying the Angelus in S. Pietro. We headed for the hills instead, up via Garibaldi in search of a little bar and a Campari. After a quick lunch in Trastevere, we crossed the river and bought some biscuits at Il Fornaio (absolutely out of this world!), then picked up the bags at the hotel, walked up to Quirinale and down to Termini (how many hills in Rome, did you say?).
