‘A Patch of Brightness‘

The spell of glorious sunny and warm weather in most of Scotland continues.

Unfortunately, both yesterday and today, Edinburgh and much of the east coast have had to wait until afternoon for the low cloud and mist to lift.

I decided to take advantage of the relative coolness to go down to Cramond again at lunchtime for a jog along the foreshore at Silverknowes.

There are a couple of small fenced off areas of wildflower meadow along the route. In the last couple of weeks they have really begun to bloom and today made for a spot of brightness in a generally rather gray scene. After I had finished my run, I went back to take a closer look.

The gloom had already started to lift, though you can still see the remains of the mist over the Firth of Forth to the right of Cramond Island.

These meadows are are part of a wider project  - “The Edinburgh Living Landscape” - by Edinburgh Council and various partners. The initiative is intended to create, restore and connect green areas of the city with a view to helping both reduce the impact of climate change and to make attractive and biodiverse landscapes in their own right.

Would be wonderful if the whole 2 mile long promenade looked like this though!
