Sir Walter Scott

On this sunny day we drove down to the Ochiltree Café at Abbotsford for lunch with the widower of my friend, who died late last year. It was good to catch up, see how he is managing and also to find where her ashes are to be laid, as Covid restrictions prevented our attending the funeral.

Thus we ended up in the Border Meringues café  in Jedburgh for coffee and delicious cakes before returning him to his home and ourselves to our own.

The bust of Sir Walter Scott sits in a niche in the visitor centre, opposite this statue, taken on a previous visit, in happier times.
