Receding...

……………………..Flood Waters

Last weekend the water level was high and wide - it almost reached the bridge and flowed from stop bank to stop bank.

Today, while muddy and still running at a higher than usual level, it had returned to the confines of the riverbanks.

Puddles of water remain, along with wet mud, flattened vegetation, displaced hay bales and fences decorated with debris.

All this is temporary and will gradually return to ‘normal’ - unlike the many homes flooded in nearby regions of Westport and Marlborough.

UPDATE - Further views of the river area.

Today, the NZ Government has halted the travel bubble with Australia for eight weeks.

This evening we are watching the opening ceremony of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, delayed by one year due to Covid-19.

Thank you for the visits, comments, stars and hearts for my previous blip four days ago. No photos, but I have managed to catch up with a number of blip journals during this time.
