Great Burnet ( Sanguisorba officinalis )

Ckickychick was out for a jog and I was out on my bike.  It was very obvious that the best of the wildflowers, well the roadside verge ones anyway.  I took shots of three or four species.

July, as far as wild flowers go always brings to my mind the Burnet or correctly the Great Burnet.  They make an absolutely beautiful country wine, deep red and great taste.  They are useful in other ways as well.  They are used as a bioremediator in reclamation of derelict sites.  The Chinese use them in traditional medicine when they are said to cool blood, heal wounds and stop bleeding.
