Everyday I Write The Book

A classic birthday

I got up at six a.m. to do a bit of organising, starting with moving the birthday cake down to the garage, away from prying eyes.  Unfortunately the handle on the bag broke clean off and the beautifully sculpted vegan creation (that we had gone all the way to Greenwich to collect from an artisan bakery the previous day) fell on its side.

Things got better after that. TSM and I did tea in bed and lazy starts. TSM and Mystic Em (who share a birthday) had lovely presents and lots of love. We had a visit from Little Bear, who came over for coffee and a really nice catch up. A lovely long FaceTime from TGR in Canada.

Then late lunch at 4pm in our local pub. This was a three hour affair with lots of drinks and superb food and doting waiting staff who all fell in love with Birdy the dog. The smashed up cake was bought out to much hilarity and turned out to be absolutely delicious.

We were in the wooden barn in the pub garden and it absolutely poured down the whole time, with bouts of thunder and lightning to boot. But we were completely dry and not at all cold. When we left at 7pm it miraculously stopped and the sun came out so TSM and I went for an hours walk.

I took this shot of Mystic Em wearing a sweatshirt on her hair when she dashed across the pub garden in the rain. I said it looked like a painting by one of the Dutch. Masters so ran it through an oil paint filter later.

Great day. Hopefully a great week ahead. We have lots of nice things planned…
